🌱 Job Opportunity: Rainforest Coordinator (Part-Time) Location: Moidart Peninsula, West Coast of Scotland
Contract: Part-time, 20 hours per week.
About Us: At Trees for Hope, we are dedicated to restoring and protecting temperate rainforests on the west coast of Scotland through community-rooted action. Our mission is to regenerate landscapes while supporting resilient, sustainable local economies. As we expand our work in the Moidart Peninsula, we are excited to open a new part-time position for a Rainforest Coordinator.
Role Summary: The Rainforest Coordinator will play a central role in our efforts to restore the rainforest ecosystems of Moidart, beginning with the areas of Glenuig and Roshven. This community-focused position involves mapping, planning, and coordinating restoration activities, while engaging local people in the regenerative process.The Rainforest Coordinator helps to coordinate and hold our volunteers week long programmes.
Key Responsibilities: • Develop a working map and strategic plan for rainforest regeneration in Glenuing and Roshven, with potential expansion across Moidart • Liaise with community members to support and coordinate local involvement in restoration efforts • Maintain clear and accurate records of completed and upcoming work • Attend quarterly meetings with Trees for Hope core team, and the local Forest Council to report progress and share insights * Writing inspiring news updates for social media and longer articles for Trees for Hope newsletters and other publications, to help promote the project
Writing the CREW reports after the completion of each week
Producing a budget for each proposed project
Keep track of the accounts spent on projects
Person Specification: We’re looking for someone who is: • Deeply rooted in, or familiar with, the local community • A skilled communicator with strong relationship-building abilities • Knowledgeable (or eager to learn) about forest restoration practices • Organised, self-reflective, and capable of working independently • Open, collaborative, and committed to inclusive, community-led ecological work
